1. Why should I register as a user of the site?
Registration enables us to grant you additional privileges such as submitting your own posts, adding memories of your Classen days, or becoming a volunteer member of our web staff or part of The New Classen Life crew. We may provide additional features, available only to registered members of the site, in the future.
2. Why didn't I receive my password e-mail after registering?
When you register as a site user, the system will automatically send you an e-mail containing a link to the password-reset page, where you can either accept the system-generated password, or change it to something you find easier to remember.
This message is sent only once and won't be repeated. If it fails to appear within five or six minutes after you register, first check any "spam filter" settings in your mail program; such filters often intercept such automatic messages. Adding "classenalums.org" to your address book or contact list before registering may help prevent this.
If you cannot find the message, however, all is not lost. Return to the login screen, enter your Username, then click the "forgot my password" link as described below. It takes you to the same screen. Once you've saved your password on that screen, you're good to go.
3. How can I change my Password?
On the "Log In" screen, click the "forgot my password" link just below the gold box. This will take you to the page where you can make the change.
The system will suggest a rather cryptic string of characters, which will provide maximum security of your account, but you can change it to anything you find easier to remember. However, many browser programs do provide "password manager" capabilities that can remember the password for you; if yours does, we recommend keeping the one suggested and having your browser remember it for you.
4. How can I change my Username?
You cannot change the Username that you entered when registering as a site user. This is the single item of information that our system uses to keep track of your posts and messages. It does not need to be your actual name, however; it can be any string of letters and numbers that nobody else is already using. Your initials and class year, birth year, or zip code would be a good choice, for instance.
If you happen to choose a username that's already in use by someone else, you'll get an error message and will return to the registration page to try again.
Once registered, you can use the "Edit my profile" choice from the menu available by clicking on your name at the right end of the black taskbar to tell the system how to display your name to other viewers of the site.
5. Are back issues of the New Classen Life available?
Some of them are; others are all gone. Contact us (using the "Contact Us" page here) with a specific request, by year or issue, and we'll let you know.
There's no charge for the issue itself but we do charge postage for mailing them, which currently comes to $2.50 for single issues. If you want more than one, we'll let you know the postage cost before mailing them.
6. Are any copies of the Orbit yearbook available?
Some are; others are all gone. Contact us (using the "Contact Us" page here) with a specific request, by year, and we'll let you know.
